Did you know that perfectionism is the transmutation of trauma energy? This is WHY you’re overthinking your resume copy. WHY you’re struggling to make progress on your portfolio. WHY you’re stumbling over what to say in your interviews.

It's not because you suck. It’s because you have trauma, my friends.
Trauma that is caused by feeling undervalued, unappreciated, or unchallenged in your current creative role for much too long.
Trauma that is caused by being unexpectedly removed from your creative job, leaving you feeling shocked, panicked and scattered.
Trauma that is caused by working in a toxic culture that expects too much of you, and doesn’t support you as a creative being.
Trauma that is making you overthink, overdo, and over-analyze things, causing you to feel distressed, helpless, and immobilized.
I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be this way. 💖
Understanding that you’re in a trauma state is going to help you find your way out of the analysis-paralysis you’re in right now.
Here are 4 key things you can do to move yourself forward:
TIME: Take time to process your situation. You might think rushing to the next thing is the answer, but until you’ve fully accepted where you are, you’ll remain in a panic state and not gain traction. (Ask me how many times I had to learn this lesson the hard way….😑)
ENERGY: Do things that promote positive energy in your life. Go on walks, cook healthy meals, laugh with friends, pet cute doggies, practice yoga, run in the park––do anything that reminds you there is more to life than your creative career. ✨
CREATION: Create just to simply create. No briefs, no reviewers, no timelines. Just make something you enjoy making so you can remember that this IS what you were put on the earth to do. It will unlock that spark inside you that has dulled from trauma. 🎨
SUPPORT: Ask for help. Ask your friends, ask your family, ask me. Just ask. Don’t stay locked up inside your head until the swirl of perfectionism makes you feel almost worthless. Because you certainly have a LOT more to contribute to the world. 💖
