THIS is exactly how I felt whenever I would sit down to update my design portfolio.

Yeah, I have all the segments. But what goes where? How are they organized? Changing one piece means you essentially impact another.
Worst. Puzzle. Ever. 😩
And just when I thought I made some progress, I would notice something that caused me to second-guess myself, jumbling it all up again. I was exhausted and frustrated. It was a very Kafka-esque experience. But with much more color. 🎨
Then one day it hit me. BAM! 💥💥💥
It's not about the individual segments––it's about WHAT THEY CREATE. I saw the bigger picture. The broader story. I no longer struggled with obsessing and perfecting every single segment.
And it took infinitely less time. ⏳
And got me further in my creative career. 🙌🏼
And I used this strategy over and over. 💻
This is the same reason why there are people who can solve a Rubiks Cube in literally seconds. They have honed their pattern recognition and big-picture skills. And once you know, YOU KNOW.
So, if you're in this frustrating place with your portfolio right now, do yourself a favor and stop cranking that puzzle. Step back and ask yourself these 3 questions:
1. Where do I want to go next?
2. What do I want to say about myself?
3. How can I create that with what I see in front of me?
And if you get stuck, definitely contact me––I want to help you! 🥰🎨🌟
But for the record, I still haven't solved the Rubiks Cube. 😉
